back-to-back transactions

• (Mokėjimo ir atsiskaitymo sistemos) - a chain of securities transactions among three or more counterparties involving the purchase and sale of a single security, for settlement on a single date. The most simple back-to-back trade is a pair of transactions in which one party agrees to purchase securities from a second party and then agrees to sell them to a third party.
• (Mokėjimo ir atsiskaitymo sistemos) - a pair of transactions that requires a counterparty to receive and redeliver the same securities on the same day. The transactions involved may be outright purchases and sales or collateral transactions (repurchase agreements or securities loans). For example, a securities dealer might buy and sell the same securities for the same settlement date in the course of making markets for customers or it might buy securities for inventory and finance the position through a repurchase agreement.
